There is no seeding by record. In past years the brackets were pre-set just like MAWA regional and eastern nationals and the DIAA state tournament. You are placed on the bracket according to where you finished at your qualifier. It is random. Looking at the brackets I can see that this year is consistant with past years. The small brackets look a little different, but that is probably because one qualifier or more did not have any wrestlers. Basically you earn your spot on the bracket by your performance at the qualifier.

I disagree, I had kids from my Club place 1st, and are not seeded in the first round with byes, but yet kids that went to the wild card or placed lower have a first round seed with byes... whats wrong with that picture?? If you placed 1st you should be seeded correctly !!! Then again why did I think this would be ran any different from anything else this year...

So, it is safe to assume that the kids that have a bye in the first round won their qualifier?

Buy a rule book and read it!

Nowhere in the rules of wrestling does it say that the top seed gets a bye. In fact, by rule it is just the opposite. Byes are supposed to be random BY RULE! If a kid that took first at a qualifier does not have a bye and kids that did not take first have them, that simply tells me that some qualifiers had four in the weight class and others did not. This happens all of the time at MAWA. Educate yourself before coming on here and making ridiculous statements. You really want to know what is wrong with this picture? You have no idea what you are talking about, that's what is wrong. We all knew it wouldn't be long before this started. At least the brackets are out they for us all to view, you can't claim secrets or hiding.

Tournaments that use computer software it will be done automatically after the wrestlers are put in. Handwritten who knows? Most kids tournaments give the top seed guys byes so that the lesser experienced wrestlers get a more fair matchup before having to hit a top seed. If you look at the Beast of the East brackets there are a lot of cases where top ranked wrestlers in the country and top seeds in the tournament had first round matches and non seeded wrestlers did not. It is not unusual.

If you are capable of reading... read the rule book. You will find that top seeds DO NOT GET BYES AUTOMATICALLY!!!! Tournaments that do are not following the rules.

It all usually works out. Let's not start complaining. Let the kids wrestle and work it out on the mat. Good luck to all the kids.

One of my kids who finished first got a bye and one didn't. WHO CARES? In a 16-man bracket, there are 4 kids that placed first. Should all of them receive byes? Of course not. The random assignment of byes is the fairest way. Also, byes are not necessarily the best thing for some kids that need a match against a lower ranked opponent as a warm up for a stronger kid later in the bracket. So you might be better off with a first round match. Lastly, the cream with rise to the top as they say. If your kid gets third instead of first or second, that is still pretty good for the kid. And for you if you can keep it in perspective. I'm going out on a limb and guessing that getting third at Kids States as a 9 year-old will probably not affect his chances at a college scholarship!

In years past when state brackets were posted, it was also posted what place the wrestler got in the qualifier. Does anyone know where that information can be found this year? Or does anyone know why it wasn't done this year?

Yes, I can give you a real simple reason why. Sussex County Championship ended at 2:30pm on Saturday, I went to work from 7pm to 7am on Saturday night. Got off work and went to Plymouth Meeting, PA where my son was wrestling. Slept on the way home and went back to work Sunday 7pm to 7am. Got off work and went home and slept to about 3pm. Picked my son up from school Monday at 3:30pm came home opened the email with the Wildcard results and then began putting the wrestlers in place and making sure the brackets were correct. Took my son to wrestling practice in Smyrna, went to dinner with my wife (I had a caesar salad and pizza) then came home where I checked over each bracket to make sure everyone was on there. Typed them into my computer and stayed up until 1:30am getting them online. See not every little thing is a conspiracy Mr. or Mrs. Anonymous. Benny

Perfect response. Thanks for all you do. Some of us appreciate your dedication. Our kids appreciate it too, and I don't care what my kids seed is.

Not everyone thinks there is a conspiracy going on Mr. Benny, so I think it is time you take the chip off your shoulder! You seem to get very defensive everytime someone questions anything you have done. I have seen this on many of the boards on here. I am started to believe the only conspiracy and drama is brought on by yourself. Maybe you are a drama queen...who knows. Personally, I have never met you and really wouldn't know you if I fell over you. I think you give yourself too much credit. Not everyone cares about what you eat for dinner or your work schedule. Some of us are just plain nosey and like to know things, like where the other kid finished that our child is going to wrestle! So, if I stressed you out by asking......please accept my heartfelt apology!
