Brian Spangler of the Penn wrestling team started off his summer vacation with, well, some more wrestling. The rising sophomore competed over the weekend in the FILA Junior World Freestyle Team Trials at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.

The 2007 AAU Wrestling Folkstyle World Championships are set to commence! Twenty-five hundred wrestlers are expected to participated in this signature AAU Wrestling event!

For the second year in a row, Matt Valenti will wrestle for the NCAA title at 133 pounds. The Penn senior earned a 4-2 decision over Cal Poly's Darrell Vasquez to advance to Saturday night's final. His opponent will be Oklahoma State's Coleman Scott, who upset top-seeded Nick Simmons.

Penn heads into the NCAA Championships looking to improve upon its 12th-place team finish a year ago. Among the wrestlers making an appearance are returning national champion Matt Valenti and 2006 All-American Matt Herrington. Valenti will try to become Penn's first two-time champion in 65 years.
